ABOUT KFA




Kerala Fencing Association (KFA) is the governing body for the sport of fencing in Kerala.

It is a non-profit organization registered under the Travancore Cochin Literary Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act (1955) and headquartered in Cochin.

  • Affiliated to Fencing Association of India in 1998
  • Affiliated to Kerala Olympic Association & recognized by Kerala State Sports Council

KFA administers Fencing in Kerala that includes:

  • Governance of the sport and member units
  • Training and Development
  • Athletes support & welfare
  • Liaison with the FAI
  • Conducting State Championships
  • Training & Sending State Teams for participating in National Championships/ National Games, etc.
  • Liaison of KFA fencers in the Indian team
  • Liaison with organizations, institutions and entities that are associated with the sport

Government aid through KSSC and generous donations from well-wishers are the only two sources of income for the KFA.

KSSC FUNDING

Considering the results of our fencers at the national level, KFA gets ‘Grade A’ level of funding from the KSSC.

Administration - According to KSSC Grand-in Aid Regulations 2009, upgraded in April 2013, all recognized State Sport Associations are entitled for Rs.7000/- year as administrative charges.

Hosting State Championships - The KSSC grant admissible as per Grade A; Chapter VI KSSC Grand-in Aid Regulations 2009, upgraded in April 2013:

Kerala state Sports Council Grant for
Sub-junior , Mini & Cadet : Rs. 50 , 000 / - each
State Junior : Rs. 60 , 000 / -
State Senior : Rs. 70 , 000 / -

Conducting State Camps for National Championships - According to Chapter VI-09 KSSC Grand-in Aid Regulations 2009, upgraded in April 2013:

– the amount for DA is Rs. 200/- per head per day and for lodging is Rs.100/- per head per day.
– TA shall be paid equivalent to sleeper class or bus fare
– Wayside expenses for journey exceeding 250 kms and below 500kms is Rs. 50/- per day on each way and for journey exceeding 500kms is Rs. 60/- per day on each way
– Coach is entitled for honorarium of Rs. 170/- per day

Attending National Championships - According to Chapter VI-10 KSSC Grand-in Aid Regulations 2009, upgraded in April 2013:

– DA for the days halting at the venue is Rs. 300/- per head per day for athletes and coaches
– TA shall be paid equivalent to sleeper class with concession
– DA during the journey exceeding 12 hours is Rs. 300/- per head per day

KSSC has no provision for giving Competition Fees and is paid by Fencers/Association.
